A HIDDEN GEM.

Today I was looking through my craft cabinet for a spool of ribbon for something for Lilley and I came across this first typed version of our Family Mission Statement. For some reason it got misplaced after we got married. We were planning to have it framed and displayed as you walk in our home so that everyone could read it. After a couple of years it has resurfaced, just as we had an amazing conference which seem to touch lot on the importance of covenant marriage in many different capacities, so I thought I'd share our family mission statement with you before I go have it framed this week! :) (its much prettier and spaced out but as you can see it didn't copy and paste that way).

The Velasquez Family Mission Statement
We are now and forever more sealed as man and wife. An eternal family. Through that sacred union, we are and will always strive to honor and keep the sacred covenants we have made on the glorious April 18th day. On that day, in the house of our Lord, we covenanted before God and promised to one another and to our posterity to establish a home of order. In our home of order, wherever it may be that Frank R Velasquez will stand as the head of this household and be the Patriarch of our home and family… that he will use his holy priesthood to bless all of the lives of those who enter our home and always set the proper example.
We establish that Sabrina L Velasquez will stand beside Frank as the matriarch of our home, to be an example of righteous doing to all who enter our home, as well as our lives. We establish that Sabrina will counsel with her husband always, and to be a “help mate” to him. There, a feeling of joy and nobility will fill our home as appropriate role responsibilities are fulfilled. The men of our family will understand and find happiness in the offices of the Priesthood in which they will hold, and the women will learn the joy that comes with womanhood and the nobility which accompanies being a wife and a mother.
We covenant to follow the counsel of our Heavenly Father and prepare every needful thing; to establish even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order… A HOUSE OF GOD. We will increase our testimonies of and in Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father through daily prayer and scripture study.
We will seek spiritual strength by following the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
We will dedicate ourselves to one another and to strengthen our family.
We will love life and learning.
We will stand for truth and righteousness
We will sustain the Priesthood and authority of God on earth.
We will rejoice in the blessings of the Temple and visit often understanding our divine
Destiny and striving for exaltation.
We will always follow the prophet through prayer and sacrifice.
Last, we count our many blessings both in each member of our family and in others that we
meet and love them for all that they are and contribute to our lives. We will count our
Blessings for the stewardship God has blessed us with in our lives.
